WHAT IS WE ARE CHINESE? The human mind. Artificial intelligence. Our Selves. A science fiction movie about Tom who finds out that the difference between us and the intelligent machines we are going to build in the future is no more than an illusion. Set in a rainy, Novemberian world Tom struggles against human nature, memories and against himself before he can free his mind and accept what he and we all are. Based on theories by computer scientist Alan Turing, linguist John Searle and philosopher Thomas Metzinger, We Are Chinese deals with a future that will affect us all in our lifetimes. Written and to be directed by Austrian filmmaker Peter Koller (Auf Bösem Boden aka On Evil Grounds), We Are Chinese, the working title of this science fiction film, will be his 2nd feature. kop11 WHAT IS “EKRAN”? The European training programme EKRAN is a collaborative project between Wajda Studio and Wajda School, FOCAL (Switzerland), Austrian Film Institute (Austria), Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung GmbH (Germany), nordmedia GmbH (Germany) with support of Polish Film Institute, AGORA Foundation and MEDIA EU Programme. EKRAN (the Polish word for “screen”) is an international training program focusing on the creative pre-production process based on shooting practice.
