DAILY BENEFITS - 25-9-14 MAKING IT AMIDST FAMINE PERIOD Bible Reading: Genesis 26:1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. 26:2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 26:12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. 26:13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: Memory Verse: And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. 1 Kings 17:6 One thing is symbolic to famine and that is scarcity. When there is famine in a particular place, hard time will set in. Life will become difficult for people in the state. People will be groaning to survive. There is famine of different degrees nowadays. Some are going through the famine of friends. There is no good friends around them. Some are going through famine of money, success, marital relationship, etc. But there are ways to survive in every famine period we are passing through as a believer. In our study today, we saw Isaac moved to Gerar but still thinking of running to Egypt. But by divine intervention, God told him he should not run to Egypt like his father (Abraham). He hearkened to the divine instruction and stayed in the land. He did not only stayed in the land alone, he sowed seeds in the dry land and the bible said he harvested plenty and became great. In other words, He does not observed his condition nor consider the fact that there was famine in the town. He defile famine and sowed his seed to have a bumper harvest in the same year. To make it in famine time, you need to follow this practical example: (1) Have a close relationship with God Almighty (2) Learn to hear from God on daily basis for spiritual guidance. (3) Act on whatever God asked you to do in your famine period. (4) Dont consider your lack to sow your seeds, the best time to give to Gods kingdom business is when it is too dry for you. I have a lot of testimonies on this which time will not permit me to share. (5) Do not think on how God will bless you back. God use raven to feed Elijah with flesh whereas ravens best food is flesh but it could not eat the one for Elijah. That is the unsearchable manifold wisdom of God. RISE UP AND PRAY NOW! Pray that the Lord will give you grace to hear God and to live by His word. Connect grace to sow seed at difficult and hard periods.
