DELTA GUBER 2015: THE TRUISM AND REALITY OF THE DELTA NORTHs TURN-VINCENT JUDE OSHIAGWU Theres nothing new under the sun. Any system with a name cannot be said to be new because the name was ones given by someone. So is also a system with a slogan. Turn-by-turn could be a name or a slogan. It could be easy for one to say do not choose before me but it becomes absurd and despicable to say do not choose before me and after me I ask, what time is the right time for a Delta North person to serve Deltans as governor after Delta South and Delta Central persons have served? To be frank, the answer to this has often times eluded many persons . However, I have come to the unsophisticated understanding that the right time is the NOW time. By this, I mean by 2015, Delta South and Delta Central should support Delta North person to serve as governor . From all political calculations and Mathematics, the three senatorial districts that make up Delta state have well equally endowed, equipped and experienced politicians to manage the affairs of our dear state. A truism. Since the present democratic dispensation kick started in May, 1999, (and even before), Delta North have always worked assiduously in partnership with other senatorial districts to help them emerge and win election. For example, 1999, the people of Delta North and Delta South came together to assist Delta Central to emerge and to succeed. At the expiration of the tenure of Delta Central candidate as governor, Delta North also joined force to make and to assist Delta South to become and to succeed for the same stipulated period. The present governor will leave office by May next year. Without any controversy,it becomes the unquestionable turn or chance of Delta North person to pilot or manage the affairs of our dear state after her other two sister senatorial districts ( Delta Central and Delta South) have had their taste and fill of leadership. Where only Delta North is left to lead despite having capable, credible and qualified in learning, character, professionalism in all ramifications, it becomes socially, spiritually, politically and traditionally unjustifiable for Delta South and Central to attempt a second slot at leadership when Delta North is yet to get a chance. The fact that Delta Central senatorial district completed their eight years tenure as governor through the leadership of chief James Onanefe Ibori cannot be oversaid. Delta South senatorial district completes their eight years tenure in 2015 through the quality leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan. I write concerning the senatorial district of Delta North that is expected to produce the governor in 2015.With or without formal requests, Delta South and Delta Central senatorial districts cannot say they never got the assistance of Delta North to emerge, consolidate and to achieve as governor producers. An assistance could be an unwarranted gifts, but a perpetually received gift has a tendency to set up or establish a formula for future action and reaction. It is now tantamount to political aberration and misnomer for any senatorial districts in Delta State to say it is not the turn of Delta North to produce the next governor. Infact, it has become the yardstick to test the truth and political maturity of politicians who care to write or talk about 2015 governorship election in Delta State. Regardless of senatorial district affiliation, the objective and true workers of politics say It is the turn of Delta North. Where theres freedom to sow, there must be freedom to harvest. By their fruits, they are known. This is the LAW and the PROPHET Do to others what you wish others do to you (Matthew chapter seven verse number twelve, The Holy Bible). Therefore, all registered political parties, especially the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are expected to make governorship candidate of Delta North extraction their party flag bearer for 2015 guber election in 2015. Another truism. The present reality of over-bloated number of governorship aspirants from Delta North can make political share of dividends to the senatorial district difficult in the near future. No opponent can convert and immediately be the first beneficiary of the same struggle after victory, much less when some may convert or repent. A brother--forget-brot her feeling may surface after victory of Delta North in 2015. Finally, analysts and political observers says the people of Delta Central and South senatorial districts are more than ready to assist Delta North to produce the next governor of Delta State. However, time and the guber election will reveal the honesty of purpose of the South and central senatorial districts.
