DIG THIS-- The Winthrop Eagles are coming off another successful weekend in Conference play. Asheville and Gardner Webb traveled to the Winthrop coliseum where we played Asheville on Friday night and Gardner Webb the next afternoon. Against Asheville, we were able to come out with a lot of energy taking the first two sets fairly easily, after faultering in the third set to close out the match we ended up letting Asheville post a close set victory. We knew we had to close them out in four so with some new found energy we were able to claim the victory behind a lot of tough serving and defense. With the quick turn around we played Gardner Webb, this was another important match for us to come out strong and take the victory. We came out strong starting two of the four matches with 5-0 leads behind another tough serving night for the Eagles. The Bulldogs were able to post a second set victory from behind, but the Eagles did not give them any more hope as they closed out the weekend with a four set victory. The Eagles are currently 4-1 in Conference and continue the home stand against High Point and Campbell next weekend. Hope to see yall there! Jessie, Rachel & Jordi
