#DINAGYANGUPDATE Now performing at Freedom Grandstand, Tribu Paghidaet Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School has been joining in the prestigious Iloilo Dinagyang Festival as a competing tribe which aims to help promote the City’s tourism program and foster devotion to Sr. Sto. Niño. Tribu Paghidaet first joined the Dinagyang Ati Tribe Competition in 1999. The name Tribu Paghidaet is still adopted because Lapazenians are devoted to Sr. Santo Niño and with the intercession of Our lady of Peace and Good Voyage, they believe that it shall be blessed with beautiful performances in the prestigious competition. The Tribe has been participating in the event for twelve years to this time except in the years 2005, 2006 and 2013. It was five-time Champion (to include 2002, 2003, 2008, 2009, and 2010), and garnered runners up awards in the other years of the Festival. 2014 Dinagyang Tribe presentation is led by Brian Francisco as Choreographer. Rheno Mar Soqueño and Celso R. Guion (LPNHS Faculty), are the artistic directors. The musical director is Raymund Ferolino and costume designers, Joebert Modina and Paul Jerome Pinuela. Rey Gico and Franc Garcia are the led artists. The tribe is composed of 77 warriors, 24 girl dancers, 30 star dancers and 110 drummers backed up by 55 members of the Tribe Staff. This year’s Tribe leader is Hervin John Catolico. The Tribe is managed by Dr. Teresita A. Torrico-Militar with address at La Paz National High School, Jereos Extension, La Paz, Iloilo City. This January 2014, Tribu Paghidaet will make its come back amidst the multitude of challenges La Paz National High School faces, including insufficient funds to meet the financial demands of maintaining a Dinagyang Tribe. However, we will aim to bring home major awards. Most importantly, it aims to entertain all Ilonggos in the festival they look forward too eagerly every January despite the devastation of the calamities our country and province face. Many Filipinos have lost loved ones, properties, opportunites, and even hope of a new beginning. It is with this main reason that Tribu Paghidaet becomes deeply motivated to dedicate our performance to our countrymen if only to show them that we should all rise up to these challenges together with Señor Sto. Niño who makes all things possible.
