“DOG’S NIGHT OUT” First Friday is this Friday!! If you hear a rumor about downtown Chelan “going to the dogs” - it’s true! Dogs will be all over downtown when “Dog’s Night Out,” the First Friday event planned for September 6th by the Historic Downtown Chelan Association, takes place. From 5:00pm to 8:00pm the first Friday of September, dogs are invited to bring their humans to town for a bone-ified good time. A Canine Carnival in Riverwalk Park provides 5 free canine activities hosted by Jon Luke of Chelan Dog: 1. Find it! (beginning canine nose work activity) 2. IQ Test (tests dog’s ability to problem solve accessing a treat behind a barrier) 3. Trail the Dragon (tracking a scent trail set in the grass) 4. Last One Sitting (compete against other dogs to see who remains in a “sit” the longest) 5. Canine Obstacle Challenge North Emerson Street will be closed to traffic so people and their pets can safely enjoy a variety of dog oriented activities, including: Doggy Photo Contest (hosted by GoLakeChelan) includes free pup photos with online voting for Cutest, for Dog/Owner Look-a-Like (prizes provided by Whaley’s General Store) and for Dogs & Duds (prize provided to best dressed dog by Culinary Apple) Wenatchee Valley Humane Society showcases adoptable dogs, offers a photo opportunity with large animal cut-outs (bring your camera!), and hosts Bev Young of Lakeshore Grooming and Boarding who shares grooming tips. Guide Dogs for the Blind displays guide puppies and shares information about the organization. Habitat for Humanity holds a “Second Paw Market” (You’ve heard of “second hand? Well the items for sale are for dogs so they’re “second paw!”) Dogs can take their owners on the “Trail of Treats” by following sidewalk paw prints throughout downtown Chelan. Each paw print is in front of a business offering a free doggy treat. Canines will also enjoy the Doggy Pool Party in the parking lot of Coldwell Banker Lake Chelan Properties where they can dunk for hot dogs. Humans will have their share of fun too! Lake Chelan Historical Museum invites kids to make a free craft and the 3 Ami-gos perform out front from 5-6pm. The Story Lady, Pamela Schmidt, reads to kids and helps them create a pet book by Swim World. Artist-in-Action Tracy Fraker works in acrylic and collage at Main Street Gallery. Culinary Apple offers free tastes of their delicious roasted glazed almonds, pecans and cashews. After Dog’s Night Out, Campbell’s Bistro fea-tures live music in the pub from 9-11pm. historicchelan.org/
