Dear Ann Coulter Congratulations, you are now the most ignorant - TopicsExpress

Dear Ann Coulter Congratulations, you are now the most ignorant person in America. Hopefully this will help shed some light on the SPORT soccer which you clearly know nothing about. “Any growing interest in soccer can only be a sign of the nation’s moral decay”. Soccer is not a fetish, for some it is a way of life. Soccer has taught me discipline, communication, accountability, how to work with other people in a team environment and given me confidence. I have forged long lasting friendships and continue to make new friends because of this sport. It provides a way to connect and be part of a community. If anything it has boosted my moral and shaped the person I am today. You said, “Individual achievement is not a big factor in soccer. Blame is dispersed and almost no one scores anyway. There are no heroes, no losers, no accountability and no child’s fragile self-esteem is bruised. There’s a reason perpetually alarmed women are called “soccer moms’, not “football moms”. This statement further tells me that you don’t understand soccer. It seems that you think that you are better then everyone, immigrants and particularly “soccer moms”. The children of those “soccer moms” will most like be more independent then yours. As they understand the rigorous fitness demands and goals their child has to prepare for. There is no coach or parent coddling, when you have to do your daily runs or wind sprints. To make a varsity, olympic or professional sports team you need motivation and self-discipline. For example, if you wanted to play soccer in high school on a Varsity level you were required to run a seven minute mile. Men’s teams had to run 3 miles in 21 minutes. That is just the beginning. In soccer, each individual plays a significant part of the team. When a goal is scored again the team, it is the teams fault. It is their responsibility to motivate and support each other to score. When a goal is scored, it is because of the team. That is why everyone celebrates together. Of course each team has its stand out players. Just like Payton Manning, we have Pele, Messi, Van Persie, Rolando, Dempsey, David Beckham, etc. I think the only difference is soccer guys are hotter which surely I think that would give you something to smile about. In every sport, on every team you will have outstanding players. DUH. Which brings me to the next thing you ask - “Do they even have MVPs in soccer? Everyone just runs up and down the field and, every once in a while, a ball accidentally goes in. That’s when we’re support to go wild. I’m already asleep.” All that running takes individual fitness and to say the ball accidentally goes in again just tells me you know nothing about soccer and should not be writing about it. I will just stop there and say the article you wrote was completely one sided and poorly written. Instead of doing research and understanding the subject you were writing about you just kept comparing soccer to American football and why you hate it. It sounds to me that you have a lot of personal issues. Maybe during college a guy who played on the soccer team broke your heart. I don’t know, let it go. It’s no reason to hate a sport. It is your right to not like something, however if you are going to write an article about how much you dislike it you should understand the subject better. Sincerely A Second Generation American, Stacy Clark
