Dear Ballers, We hope you’re all well; it’s been a hell of a few weeks for us all after the Halloween Masked Ball. With the ‘perfect’ storm well behind us we’ve been busy preparing the next ball and implementing lots of exciting changes. We’ve been listening and learning… We want to take the Summer Masked Ball back to its early years when it was a ‘Ball’, a unique once-a-year event in a stunning setting with the very best creative production, diverse entertainment and, best of all, you lot dressed to the nines in tuxes and frocks! So here’s what we are doing: Capacity: we are going to pull back the capacity for the summer show. Beacon Cragg is a beautiful setting but it can only take so many people and it’s best left with room to explore, resulting in a better experience for you. So do please be quick with tickets as there will be slightly fewer this year. Security: we’ve learnt a lot over the years and we have taken all this experience and re-drafted the security plan from the bottom up with a very experienced new team. This will result in a safer happier Ball for you all. We can’t release the full details but don’t even think about it getting in for free this year…tell your mates too. Entertainment: OK, so we know you don’t all like the same genres of music. We too felt that the Ball over the years has slipped in its programming (especially after midnight) to cater for one and all. 2014 will see the ball implement a range of genres across multiple venues from quiet chill out areas to thumping techno. A new live bands stage, soul/funk/jazz tent, a late night casino and a host of other new areas will cater for all tastes. Campsites and car parks: We know that you love meeting up with your friends and enjoying the spectacular views in the campsites and car parks before heading into the event. 2014 will see a lot more infrastructure go into the car parking fields to keep you and your valuables safe. Better lighting, more security and metal trackways will be brought in to ensure a greater safety and better facilities. Travel and accommodation: we’re going green by cutting back on the amount of cars traveling to the Ball, and encouraging you guys to lift share. So, we’re going to charge a small fee of £5 for cars and £10 for campervans to park this year, to cover the extra infrastructure in the car parks. We will also donate a percentage of the parking fees to a green charity; so we’re all doing a bit of good for the event’s carbon footprint. We’ll also be running buses to the event to help reduce the volume of cars as well, as implementing a smother traffic management plan. There will also be a separate campervan field and a dedicated improved accommodation field with tipis, bell tents and hobbit huts for hire. We are very sorry for those who didn’t get the Masked Ball experience we strive to produce at Halloween, but it’s safe to say there were some extenuating circumstances and, most of all, we’ve learnt a lot. We really hope to see all of you back in spring to what we promise will be the best Ball ever! So wipe the mud of those disco balls and get ready to come together for spring 2014. The Masked Ball x Weve booked a few artists that you can find on our webpage and weve got a couple of beautys lined up for release early next year so grab a discounted ticket whilst you can. maskedball.net/
