Dear Community Gardeners, It’s spring! You’re warmly invited to celebrate the season at the next community garden network meeting on Sunday 28 September, hosted by Marrickville West Community Garden. Community gardener and composting teacher Emma Daniell will run a session for us on effective hot composting. Hot composting is a marvellous way to produce compost quickly. The session will cover how to set up and maintain hot composts, troubleshooting, and ways to use the finished product. Emma has a Diploma in Horticulture and a Permaculture Design Certificate and is Education Co-ordinator at the Randwick Community Organic Garden. She has taught organic gardening, composting, wormfarming and seedsaving through courses and workshops across the Sydney region. Emma is currently working with residents in 30 local unit blocks to support composting in communal areas, through Marrickville Council’s Compost Collective project. There will also be time to network, explore the garden and share morning tea. When: Sunday 28 September, 10am to 12pm Where: Marrickville West Community Garden (1/7 Henson Street, Marrickville 2204 (Marrickville West Public School grounds)) RSVP and details at Eventbrite Warm regards Kate Kate Jackson | Acting Coordinator Community Sustainability Marrickville Council | 2-14 Fisher Street, Petersham NSW 2049 | marrickville.nsw.gov.au P: +61 2 9335 2147 | E: [email protected]
