Dear Friends, With mixed feelings of happiness and sadness, I - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, With mixed feelings of happiness and sadness, I would like to share with each of you that August 15 2014 will be my last official day of work VMC. It is now my time to retire. I have been working at the VMC for the past fourteen years and it has been a privilege and an honor to work with such fine professionals. There are many memories in my mind and heart of the people I have met during these past fourteen years. I entered VMC as a RCP and exit as a RN. The transitions, challenges and the friends that I have made along the way have made this truly a life changing experience. You have all helped me tremendously throughout the years sharing with me your experiences, knowledge, tips, short cuts, and points of view, but most importantly, your trust and friendship. It is your positive insight and clear vision that our first priority is to our patients, and selfless attitude in sharing knowledge benefitting the VMC is what makes the outstanding difference in our patients’ lives. I would also like to say thank you to the few negative people whom shared their “bad vibrations” with me; you demonstrated the attitude I needed to avoid in order to grow professionally and I have. Already, there are projects and goals both short and long term. Some of these I can actually remember, or not. I need to confess that knowing I’ll have the time to do what I want—it is a sweet and unique sensation. I welcome challenges again; I am ready to face them and make a positive difference. It is the journey and not the destination that has value. That’s an old adage that holds more than a bit of truth. And what a long strange trip it’s been. Thanks for being along for the ride. Aloha and Mahalo, Mike Welch RN
