Dear Friends and Redwings, it is with a heavy heart that we send - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends and Redwings, it is with a heavy heart that we send this message. This page started with the best of intentions. It was meant to celebrate 50 years of a wonderful institution; its accomplishments and people; past, present, and future. But due to recent developments, the committee does not arrive at its conclusion lightly. Effective, Friday September 27, 2013 we will be signing off forever. Since the onset of this group, people who have liked the page have found issue with postings and have erroneously distorted the views and intentions of the post. However, the extensive record clearly demonstrates to us that the actions of a few have been predicated upon an appeal to bias rather than reason, and concealment rather than disclosure. A small minority have chosen to take the goodwill and hard work of many and destroy it for personal and political gain. So, it is with this sad truth that we must end our work with this page. We want to thank the countless alumni, the true spirit of Hoboken for making this a rewarding and enriching experience. Allow us to leave you with this thought: What is Hoboken? It’s just a punch line to some people… All they see are the drunken idiots on Washington Street and Mayor Zimmer telling Snooki she couldn’t come to town. But, those people who snicker and crack jokes have really never been to Hoboken and have never taken the time to look around. Those people have never seen the beauty of our City, from the hills of Stevens to the view of Hoboken from Viaduct. They don’t see the rows of Brownstones on Park Avenue or feel the warmth and the sense of community from the families of the Housing Authority. But, most of all, they don’t see us. They don’t see the thousands of Redwings that have passed through these doors and get up everyday and go to school or work and live their lives in our city and surrounding towns. The true fiber, the back bone of Hoboken is its people. Redwings. The Men, the Women, the Boys and Girls. Some are soldiers in the guard or the reserve, like Josh Santiago and Avery Ramos. They are first responders, teachers, students, alumni. Alumni like Buddy Matthews who spent a combined 52 season as a Hoboken High School Head Coach. Those quote; un quote comedians don’t see our coastline from Pier A all the way up Sinatra Drive. This place we call home. When many of us were younger we were in Hoboken for our proms or Senior cut Day, For summer afternoons that turned into Amazing Nights. We All have memories, the names and places are all different. But, we all have had great times here at Hoboken High School. Or maybe like the recently graduated Class of 2013 and the current Seniors the Class of 2014: you are just beginning your life and starting fresh. I guarantee one day, you will feel like us old folks. So come on, Hoboken High School! Its time to join me, I want to hear you loud and proud! So, if you just came from Washington St, Garden, Jackson, or 8th Street. Imagine you are in your first car; it’s the summer of your Senior Year! Roll Down the Window, Turn up the Radio And remember the greatest times of your life! Hoboken High! We leave, you with this.... “Once a Redwing, Always a Redwing.”
