Dear Friends, pushed by my usual enthusiasm I have developed with Birel’s Property a new adventure for endurance racing in 2104. In my humble opinion we have made something really good, to permit everyone to feel the emotions we so much love and set a new standard in Endurance kart racing. Birel Group has decided to raise the bar with a series of important news , that I’m showing you below. The idea is to create a format here in Italy, worldwide center of racing for the karting market, that replicates the most important endurance championship of the world: the American one. They start with the toughest 24 hour, Daytona, than they have a 12 hr, Sebring and finish with a 6hr, Watkins Glen. We will do the same. We’ll start with a 24 hr, Lignano Int.l Circuit (May, 24-25), than a 12 hr, South Milan Int.l Circuit-Ottobiano (July, 5-6) and finish with a 6hr, Alfa Romeo Racetrack-Balocco Official Fiat Proving Ground ( September, 27). Scoring system: the assigned points for each race will be different according to the races lenght. The Teams will be scored in the Absolute standing if they race in at least two races. Kart: a brand new fleet of N35-x karts, with some technical adjustments, powered by a honda 390cc engine. The kart will be assigned to the Teams by public drawing during the Registration procedure and will be perfectly checked to ensure the maximum possible balance of performance Teams: must be formed by: 24 hr: from five to twelve drivers ; 12hr: from four to ten drivers ; 6 hr: from three to eight drivers. Driving Stints: 30 minutes with at least 15 minutes rest between two stints Max number of stints: 24 hr- twelve per driver ; 12hr: seven per driver ; 6 hr:five per driver Driver weight and ballast: all the drivers will be weighted before the race. The minimum weight will be 85kg without the helmet and accessories. Ballasts will be covering from 5 to 50kilos, if necessary. Any driver will be wearing a bracelet with the proper letter and the ballast to carry on the kart. The letter on the helmet must match with the letter on the bracelet. Ballasts must be used also during the free practice. Security: pit lane crossing time must be always respected. The Safety car will always enter in the racetrack if a kart must be towed to the Technical Area. It is prohibited to reach the technical area on foot . Free practice: AT LEAST 2 hours for the 12 and 24 hour races, 90 minutes for the 6 hour race. The driver who catches the checkered flag is the one who will start the Qualify. Qualify: 10 minutes. The driver who catches the checkered flag is the one who will start the Race. Park Fermè: after the end of Free Practice the karts won’t enter in the pits or in the technical area. Park Fermè time ends after the start of the race Race Start: old-Le Mans Style. Technical area and technical checks: there will be available six spare karts. To each Team, any six hours, a compulsory five minutes technical stop will be given. In that way any Team can count on AT LEAST one technical stop to check the kart and face the next six hours with their racing mean in the optimal conditions. The technical stop MUST be made in the six hours and it is a decision to be made by the Team Manager. If the technical stop is necessary because a Team has made a unfair driving maneuver and it is sanctioned by the Race direction, the reparation will be made on the “official” kart and no spare kart will be given. Technical stops for engine problems or other causes that are not responsibility of the driver will always have the chance to take the spare kart. During the race it will be the possible to change the tires, and “how to” will be explained at the briefing. The refueling area it’s OUTSIDE the pit lane crossing time and it is part of the driving stint Awardings:The Birel Group will give an important prize to the winning team, and we are trying to obtain other prizes given by the Sponsors/Partners. Separate standing for Gentlemen and Pro Drivers. Registration fee: 24 hr: 3500€ - 12hr: 2500€ - 6 hr: 1500€. We will give some discount to the teams registering for all the races or a free benefit to be decided. I hope to see you on the starting line again!
