Dear Grandmother…It is with deep sorrow I write this note. When I said goodbye to you and that I was leaving for school, little did I know it was the last goodbye. Every great life surely comes to an end you always seemed to imply and that when the end came, we should embrace it. You were the granny who took care of us when mummy was not around, you showered us with so much love, care and compassion that can’t be compared to anything in the world. I remember how you will let me sit by the television and interpret everything they said on the news because you never had an opportunity to go to school. It was funny how you could guess some of the stories the news caster was presenting. The stories you told us about how you grew up fisherman’s daughter in the village, how you met Grandpa in the village and how he ran off with you to the city. I cannot imagine life at home without you, not being there to ask me to go take a bath, cut my long nails and basically be “a gentleman”. Those moments you would complain so much about how we the “modern kids” taught we knew everything. May God shower his mercies and blessings on you. Though you are gone forever, we will always miss you and your memories will live forever in our hearts…..Rest in Eternal Peace….:(
