Dear Rotarians, Our weekly meeting is on September 11th, Wednesday 12:30pm at Namsan Room #2 of the Grand Hyatt Seoul. ㅇ Name of Speaker: Rtn. Robert T. Mounts ㅇSubject: "Cross-Cultural Negotiations in Asia" In this brief presentation, Rtn. Robert will summarize the principal lessons learned in his 22 years in Korea negotiating international agreements and advising senior US commanders, as well as his plans for teaching this subject to law students at the University of Florida ㅇ A Brief Bio: Rtn. Robert T. Mounts has served since 1996 as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Commander, US Forces Korea for International Relations and as United States Secretary to the US-ROK Status of Forces Agreement Joint Committee. He is an attorney admitted to practice in Florida and California. Previously, as part of a 25 year Air Force career, he served four years on active duty in Seoul, first as Chief, International Affairs Division, Office of the USFK Judge Advocate and later as Deputy Judge Advocate, US Forces Korea (1989-93). Rtn. Robert has negotiated countless international agreements with South Korean authorities for the support of the alliance, to include two revisions of the SOFA, the Land Partnership Plan Agreement, the Yongsan Relocation Plan Agreement, and several Special Measures Agreements for Defense Burdensharing. Rtn. Robert will retire from goverment service on June 30, 2014 and return to the United States with his wife, Eunsook Park and step-son, Minu, to his hometown of Gainesville, Florida where they have a home. He has been asked to teach a course entitled "Cross-Cultural Negotiations in Asia" at the University of Florida College of Law, his alma mater, home of the Florida Gators.
