Dear Universe, What a thrill to see Dr Cabbie come to the screen and to have so many people share the experience with me. The final part of the equation is laughter ... and it was so rewarding to hear people roaring (at times) at my thoughts and words. What a dance.... so wild! From day one... when I created Dr Cabbie in 2002, amongst the other story points, it was always my intention to have Bollywood dancing as part of the equation. It was so clear to me... and now its real. Wherever I got it, I am grateful to have had the spirit of perseverance instilled in me. I am grateful for my creative thoughts and for the people who foster and encourage those thoughts in me - my writing partners and my friends. Ultimately there is no boundary in the creativity of this film ... no place to say... that is the part that I wrote and this is the part that so-and-so wrote. Collaboration means accepting the good and enduring sometimes harsh criticism that comes with bringing a creative endeavour to the masses. I accept it all. I have learned so much from this process and have so much to be grateful for and so many people to thank. I am sure I have bored many people with the updates about Dr Cabbie during its gestation. I am sorry for that if it means that they wont give it a chance and check it out in the cinema. Dr Cabbie is at its heart a tale about a man who takes control of his own destiny while in turn taking care of others. Its not my story. Like all mythology it is our story. A very Canadian story I think... and I like this theme. This movie is not going to change the world but it will hopefully bring some levity to those who struggle to adjust to the constraints of it. I am proud of my collaboration on this film and of the cross-cultural experience it offers. I am gratefully working on new projects and look forward to sharing them with you soon. Yesterday, September 19th, was my late Dads birthday, my feature film Dr. Cabbie opened across Canada; my short film Reveille had its International premiere in Chicago at the Reeling Film Fest, I found out it was also chosen for the Reel Pride Winnipeg film fest; I was on set for Gangland Undercover (coming soon) and I still had time to work in the garden. Wayne Kennell you would have been proud. You did good kid! I can hear you....in the wind... Thank you! xo Ron
