Delaware County Republican Candidates Earn Law Enforcement Endorsements MEDIA, PA – Delaware County Council candidates Mario Civera and Dave White, Delaware County Court of Common Pleas candidates Chip Mackrides and Rich Cappelli, and county row office candidates Mary McFall Hopper, Ed O’Lone, and Jennifer Holsten Maddaloni picked up a trio of law enforcement endorsements today from the Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police, the Delaware County Police Chiefs Association, and Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan. The endorsement of the slate of Republican candidates follows prior individual endorsements of Mackrides, Cappelli, and Hopper. “As Delaware County District Attorney, it is important for me to have a strong, qualified team working with me to keep our communities safe and address public safety issues,” said District Attorney Jack Whelan. “I am confident that these candidates will stand with me and provide the funding and support I need to keep Delaware County safe.” “Mario Civera and Dave White, our Republican candidates for Delaware County Council, led an effort to obtain state funding and install “panic buttons” – emergency alert systems – in every K-12 school in Delaware County,” continued Whelan. “We have worked together on the creation of a new heroin task, to organize Safe School summits with educators, to combat bullying, and to address the issue of fraud against seniors.” “I have known Chip Mackrides and Rich Cappelli for more than 25 years and they are the clear choice for Judge of the Delaware Court of Common Pleas,” said Whelan. “Both have received the Delaware County Bar Association’s highest rating of “well-qualified”– the only judicial candidates to earn this high distinction. With their excellent qualifications, more than 30 years of courtroom and legal experience, as well as their long record of community service, it is obvious why Mackrides and Cappelli have been endorsed by both the Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police and the Delaware County Police Chiefs Association.” “We also have an excellent group of individuals running for county row office, including Mary McFall Hopper for Delaware County Sheriff, Ed O’Lone for County Controller, and Jennifer Holsten Maddaloni for Register of Wills. Each of these candidates has an excellent record in their respective fields that makes them extremely well-suited for these positions.” In addition to the support of Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan, the Republican slate of candidates also earned the support of the Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 27, an organization representing approximately 1,000 law enforcement personnel and members in Delaware County, as well as the Delaware County Police Chiefs Association, a countywide organization that represents the interests of the chiefs of Delaware County’s police departments. The association also helps to coordinate law enforcement activities between different municipalities and across jurisdictions to assist departments in coordinating their crime fighting and enforcement efforts.
