Democracy is under threat!. It is disheartening more to us than the west - because they have already had enough of it as reflected in a gradual downward trend in voter turnouts. In countries like Canada, US and many European countries voter turnout has often been less than three-quarters. Turnout in local elections were rather lower, barely exceed 50% in most cases. Why do people waive their voting right in these countries while those in Africa are still paying their life to get the right to freely vote their representatives?
