Dennis, this was a good interview (linked below), but I think neither you nor Arun Gupta has quite gotten to the crux of the matter yet. Look, we may have had 400,000 people marching in the streets, but all they were committed to was a statement of we want more people to think about climate change. They were not committed to a statement of we see that capitalism is the problem, and we are ready to put our bodies on the line to end capitalism. And actually, if it comes to putting bodies on the line, it would take a lot more than 400,000 bodies; the US military can crush an unarmed crowd of that size pretty easily with just a few bombs. What is really needed is for the general public to see that the economic system is the problem. No military force can stand against an idea whose time has come. The US military cannot send its tanks against us, if we convert the tank drivers. But no one is quite addressing that. Naomi Klein and Thomas Piketty compile tons of evidence to show that capitalism is inherently evil, but then they turn around and say we dont want to end capitalism, we just want to reform it. Chris Hedges blames unfettered capitalism, as if there were some other kind of capitalism possible, some healthy kind that would not instantly transform itself into unfettered capitalism. David Harvey says capitalism needs to end, but he speaks in jargon too thick for anyone to understand it. Richard Wolff speaks clearly about the faults of capitalism, but right now hes too infatuated with compromises with capitalism, such as Mondragon. All the pieces have been put before us; what we need now is someone who can make a short documentary film that puts the pieces together. Hint, hint. https://youtube/watch?v=09PliT7YopY
