Despite the two- yearly protestations of Ranter-in- Chief, Chris - TopicsExpress

Despite the two- yearly protestations of Ranter-in- Chief, Chris Waddle and like minded people, nothing will change regarding the set up of English International football. Every two years we fall short, sack the manager, promise to learn lessons, have a good mix of experience and youth for the next tournament, blah blah blah.........there is neither the will or inclination to do anything about it. The Premier League ( btw can we stop calling it the Premiership as thats a different shaped ball) is a cash cow and its there to be milked. Mostly by foreigners who really dont give two sheiks of a camels balls ( pun intended) Worse still, its a league within a league, the prize being, for the six clubs who can afford the cash to get there, yet more cash and endorsements. Just to play devils advocate, it is an exciting league, I can nip to the booza on Super Sunday and watch great players, (cos balls to a Sky subscription on principle), but while the powers that be are being blinded by the money on offer and players agents seem only interested in how many zeros are before the decimal point on their clients wage slips, English International football is on a one way (expensive season) ticket to oblivion. The English players ambitions seem to be several expensive cars parked on a 3 mile drive to some Cheshire mansion, a stick insect WAG with perfect teeth and the means to keep speeding fines and marital transgressions ( usually with each others wives) out of the courtroom. - and they claim to be keeping it real by still living in the country. But its not their fault. They have to get rid of the money somehow. And frankly, who wouldnt? The only way to change things then I would suggest, is to limit ( and I mean really limit) the number of overseas players. But, as said, there is neither the will or inclination, so well have to get used to seeing Algeria, Switzerland and the USA progressing further than us.
