Detachment, Trust and Not Giving Up Some thoughts on detachment and the journey, trusting and not giving up that just came out... If real detachment happens to you, even once in your life, you are blessed. There is no decision in detachment. There is no resistance to any impulse. Regular impulses fade and are just nonexistent so what is there to resist? What is so strange that overcomes you is a different space, mind you it is not just a relaxed or open space. It is a strange entrance into a new land. You could walk through a market for days without eating and never get hungry, never be distracted by some grab of something distracting you. And that is a reality, not an imaginary thought. You easily could. I mean, you could pull something from the shelf but who would want to eat it? There is no hunger. Much more powerful is the strange land, and it is not a disconnected, a dream or a fantasy land, it is a strong shift in awareness, it is powerful, it is amazing, it is different, it is a space so neutral you cant imagine how it came upon you but by mercy and grace. All the things that would usually grab you seem to dim and fade in the light of this new state of being. It is some kind of thing granted by good karma or yogic attainment or service. It is not normal at all. It is very, very different. Again, it is not just some place you get to from relaxation or fulfilled desire, it is a devotees prayer being granted. It is so, so different than any assumption or description the mind could seek or use to describe it. Keep practicing and trust in how existence can be so different in a moment... The bell that rings and awakens the buddhist monk or the koan that awakens him can happen at any moment. The prayer of such depth that no other prayer need be prayed can happen. The consciousness can shift and be shifted while alive, and it can be a lasting shift.. Not some sad shift where you gain a few siddhi powers and abuse them like every other damned human behavior, this is the liberation that all the saints speak of, the one they tell you about that gives you reason to get back to the next sadhana and keep going, even when it all just tastes like dry bread.. Keep going. The dry bread of the name will take you through the desert, it will give you what you need to cross. Dont give up hope. Walk where you can only walk to alone, as the prayers say, where the name alone is your friend, is your light in the darkness. Keep serving and trust and trust in how existence can be so different in just a moment.
