Did a little research and cant find anything that agrees. So, im just gonna throw this out there. Your thoughts are appreciated: Before Jesus goes to the cross, He prays Not my will but yours be done. How can the will of Jesus be different from the will of God if Jesus and God are one? Heres my thought....Firstly, Jesus was not talking about regretting the mere physical suffering but the rather the spiritual implications of it. In other words, many have been crucified before Him. More-so, 2 thiefs where crusified alongside Him that vary day. But somthing was different about Jesuss suffering....he was not just being punished or rejected by men but by God Himself. Isaiah 53 confirms this. Therefore, what Jesus dreaded the most was being seperated from His Father (God). So, His prayer sprung from righteousness, not from selfishness. There is nothing more righteous then to plead with God that His Spirit would never leave you.
