Did anyone notice that the crows left wednesday night/thursday - TopicsExpress

Did anyone notice that the crows left wednesday night/thursday morning? There was a huge assembly at the campus yesterday upon darkfall. The trees in a large area were a noisy sea of squarking, beautiful black flocks constantly starting and landing, rearranging the positions for the great trip. Much to discuss, many things to settle in the social structure. I watched them for half an hour, observed the ebbs and flows in a world of communication obviously rich in meaning but too far from my human reference space to understand. I dont know where they migrate but today there were only a handful left, maybe the old crows or a different species/tribe. A truly impressive phenomenon. I wish I could have stayed to watch them engage the final take-off. Not exactly how I feel, but an apt contribution: Die Krähen schrein Und ziehen schwirren Flugs zur Stadt: Bald wird es schnein. – Wohl dem, der jetzt noch Heimat hat! Nun stehst du starr, Schaust rückwärts, ach! wie lange schon! Was bist Du Narr Vor Winters in die Welt entflohn? Wer das verlor, Was du verlorst, macht nirgends halt. -- Friedrich Nietzsche (:
