Did you know that the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun is 100% volunteer? 100% volunteer!! This is pretty incredible considering the fact that volunteerism in our county, and our country is at an all-time low. Our community should feel safe and proud that our volunteer members voluntarily commit to making every effort within their scope of training and ability to assist fellow residents in our most vulnerable time of need. We are often kept from family and friends yet we are willing and available 24/7, in spite of weather conditions and other variables, to protect our community. Volunteering is in addition to our day jobs and family. We may leave our homes at 2AM or rush from our kids Little League game to respond to that 911 call. It may not be your house, your spouse or parent, or your child this time but you can be sure that if it is we would be there within minutes!! We are volunteers who always show up because we recognize the need, we know that when we can’t be there, others will have our back protecting our families and friends and we take pride in serving OUR community!! Although not always obvious, ALL volunteers make an incredible difference. I want to be the first on this page to thank every member of CFCRS for what they do every day. Please help me in thanking our volunteers too!! JY
