Dobro jutro!!!!! There is one good thing to report from Zemun.......... THE SUN IS OUT! :O :) Hope everyone is doing as well as possible considering the circumstances! I was just laying in bed watching RTS and the coverage of the flooding. OMG! It just about makes you want to vomit. They showed the horrible situations in Obrevenovac, Jagodina, Gornji Milanovac, Loznica, and a few others! This clean up will take months if not years for these poor souls that were affected. This is a country that was already struggling with high unemployment, terribly low salaries, and poor infrastructure. :( The homes in Serbia are not like American homes. The majority of these homes in smaller communities are built to last many generations of family not just one. Imagine you, your wife and two kids trying to rebuild a home and purchase all the contents that you had been collecting for 20 years on a $300 a month salary. This flood will also play havoc on already sky high food prices and automobiles. Many of these families are able to just scrape by because they have a large garden in their village, this storm wiped them out. The loss of thousands of automobiles is also a HUGE problem. Thousands of cars are ruined and many still have loans to repay to the bank. :( This isnt a country where a majority of people have flood insurance. Everyone with a little bit of room in their heart is going to have to get involved and help this country get back on its feet! It wont be fun, it wont be easy, but we can do it...
