Dr. G Unplugged – The Message from Michael Brown’s Death First of all in the midst of the chaos, pandemonium, anger, fear, sadness, madness and injustice, let us not forget about his family who has lost a son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandchild and friend. My heart goes out to his mother who is in the midst of grieving, dealing with the turmoil of his death. From all that I have seen and heard, another young man has been gunned down by someone who swore to protect and serve. Only 8 days ago, Michael Brown was an unknown teenager living in Ferguson, and now in death, the nation knows his name. There are so many issues that are associated with his death and the two that I want to emphasize is the continued acceptance of that reality that it appears that the race of a person matters more than being a human and that racism is a monster that is alive and well and is still overtly displayed daily. There is so much that is wrong with this case. Each day there is something else that reeks with racism and adds additional salt to the wounds in Ferguson and the nation and continues to stir up hurt and anger leading to more turmoil. It has to stop. Throughout history, unfortunately it seems that the torture or loss of life is what stirs up emotions enough for people to become determined to unify to be heard as one voice to change laws and cause meaningful conversations. Let us all take a look at how we can become a part of the solution and not the problem before more lives are taken. Do your part to sign petitions, lead meaningful conversations, write your congress men and women, vote, donate funds, etc… Let us continue to pray for the Brown family and that justice reign and peace can blanket our communities. I leave you with the words of Dr. King, Let no man pull you low enough to hate him. Peace and Healing to All.
