Dua and remembrance before sleeping When retiring to his bed every night, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would hold his palms together, spit (a form of spitting comprising mainly of air with little spittle) in them, recite the last three chapters (Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas) of the Quran and then wipe over his entire body as much as possible with his hands, beginning with his head and face, and then all parts of the body, he would do this three times. bismillaahir-raḥmaanir-raḥeem (1) qul huwa-llaahu aḥad (2) allaahuṣ-ṣamad (3) lam yalid wa lam yoolad (4) wa lam yakul-lahuۥ kufuwan aḥad bismillaahir-raḥmaanir-raḥeem (1) qul a‛oodhu birabbil-falaq (2) min sharri maa khalaq (3) wa min sharri ghaasiqin idhaa waqab (4) wa min sharrin-naffaathaati fil-‛uqad (5) wa min sharri ḥaasidin idhaa ḥasad bismillaahir-raḥmaanir-raḥeem (1) qul a‛oodh-u birabbin-naas (2) malikin-naas (3) ilaahin-naas (4) min sharril-waswaasil-khannaas (5) alladhee yuwaswisu fee ṣudoorin-naas (5) minal-jinnati wan-naas Surah Al-Ikhlas In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Say (O Muhammad (SAW)): He is Allâh, (the) One.(1) Allâh the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks). (2) He begets not, nor was He begotten. (3) And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him. (4) Surah Al-Falaq In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Say: I seek refuge with (Allâh) the Lord of the daybreak, (1) From the evil of what He has created; (2) And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness; (or the moon as it sets or goes away) (3) And from the evil of those who practice witchcrafts when they blow in the knots, (4) And from the evil of the envier when he envies. (5) Surah An-Nas In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Say: I seek refuge with (Allâh) the Lord of mankind, (1) The King of mankind (2) The Ilâh (God) of mankind, (3) From the evil of the whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in ones heart after one remembers Allâh), (4) Who whispers in the breasts of mankind, (5) Of jinn and men.
