EKITI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: QUO VADIS? Since the recent - TopicsExpress

EKITI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: QUO VADIS? Since the recent governorship election in Ekiti, certain lazy people have hijacked the media to pontificate on what they dont know or understand. From their lamentations, it could be easily seen that many of them dont even know Ekiti or are just shocked because they expected their lackey to win so that business could continue as usual...Also, the grouse of some of them is that a seemingly elite was trounced by someone they dont expect. They forgot that Ekiti people have discovered the futility in TOO MUCH knowledge and now prefer REALISM, COMMON SENSE & WISDOM. People failed to understand that among the professors in Ekiti, not many of them know or understand the dynamics of mobilization of the rural people. Am sorry to say that Fayemi is just a marginal academician when academic matters are mentioned in Ekiti. Therefore the lamentation over his defeat may just be a swan song to an average Ekiti. We also need to ask how popular, practical or result oriented are most of the plethora of professors in Ekiti. They are mostly people who have been caught off from reality! Most of them cannot proffer practical solution to societal problems of today. The dictum is that they speak English instead of taking wide ranging decisions that would solve societal problems! Since Fayemi became the governor through a court declaration in 2010, he has found it difficult to operate on the same wavelength with the people for obvious reasons. That is why he is at logger head with the youths, students, NURTW members, Okada riders, Market women, grass root politicians ...and even civil servants. These groups form the bulk of voters in any community in NIGERIA of today. Fayose on the other hand is a MAN OF THE PEOPLE, A FRIEND OF THE DOWN TRODDEN & A PRACTICAL POLITICIAN! He could mingle with the people easily and identify with their situation. He does not find it condescending to sit down to eat or drink with the local people. No wonder it was VERY EASY for him to mobilize them and trounced Fayemi in all the 16 LGAs in the state! That is the reality and anyone that is not satisfied could better be advised to take it easy because that is what the people want! It would therefore be appreciated if those who are weeping more than the bereaved over Ekiti matters and especially over the victory of Fayose could just keep their mouths shut and allow peace to reign in our dear Ekiti. We want to eat our pounded yam with efo riro in tranquility and drink our palm wine with joy. As far as the local people are concerned, the evil predictions over the governorship election are behind them. They would be ready to withstand anything that could bring in a political impasse again. ..To any sensible Ekiti indigene or resident, the election has been won by Fayose. Fayemi has also accepted defeat, congratulated, embraced and promised to work with him towards a smooth transition! What is now the business of any commentator, political or legal pundit over an issue that has been settled by two Ekiti gladiators?, It is high time to call the bluff of those who are not happy with the result of the FREE & FAIR governorship election held in Ekitiland on Saturday 21 June 2014 in Ekiti state...Up Ekiti kete!
