Earlier this month we welcomed two members of the National Arts Centre English Theatre acting ensemble to Elmwood to conduct a workshop with the acting ensemble of Elmwood Theatre’s 2014-2015 show, The Madwoman of Chaillot. The students had attended, on the previous day, The Importance of Being Earnest where they saw Amy Matysio and Karen Robinson in the roles of Gwendolyn and Lady Bracknell respectively. Having just witnessed their two performances, the students were very excited to have this opportunity to meet and work with both actresses on themes relating to their own show. As Karen Robinson remarked afterwards, “I keep forgetting how invaluable it is for young people to encounter the proof of what is possible.” The workshop was made possible through the kind support and generosity of the NAC’s English Theatre Educational Department.
