I have not always been a confident artist. I started out at 6 years of age, gleefully rehearsing every song and act at Holy Angels Catholic School on the South Side of Chicago, in Bronzeville. We used to put on our costumes, then with our small feet inside of high heels and boas on our small arms, sashay around the stage doing routines as taught. I always knew I wanted to entertain, but I had no real idea of how it would be accomplished. I watch so many young people, older, more experienced people, who endeavor the field of public performance and wonder if they know what they are doing or where they are going? Eventually, you will hear of them or not. I get it. Get a real job!, is what many will say as you pursuit your life calling. However, it is the beat to your heart and the air you breathe. Thanks to those who support and make a way for artists to have dignity and self respect for the crafts they hone to produce this marvelous culture of performing arts. In all ways, and in all kinds of ways, what we do matters. So never, give up the pursuit of happiness and fulfillment, as you are side tracked by depression and judgments. Know, you are divinely created for this mission and up to the task. You are already perfect, for what it is that you do. Just go and continue to "DO IT!"
