Early this morning before daylight, Ingrid awoke after a great night’s sleep and asked me for a drink of water and if she could watch the news. I am not allowed to give her water but I gave her ice chips and turned on the news. She promptly went back to sleep. Nevertheless, this is a big step forward. Dr. Bashey came while Mom was asleep, but he confirmed that she is making great improvement and now needs to step it up with PT and OT to build her strength. She fights that as she tires easily and has to be pushed! We will get there but pray for her endurance and willing persistence. Tomorrow she is scheduled for a swallow test. This entails trying different foods/drinks with barium so they can tell if she is swallowing properly and not aspirating which would cause pneumonia. She wants a big glass of cool water, and passing the swallow test is the quickest way to get there. Thanks for continued prayers.
