EastEnders Matt Di Angelo: Danny Dyer has got a bad rep but hes a family man with good banter Matt Di Angelo thinks co-star Danny Dyer is different to how many people might imagine him to be. The EastEnders actors have been part of an shocking storyline together after Matts character Dean Wicks raped Linda Carter, wife of Dannys alter ego Mick. Deans mum Shirley is also keeping secret the fact that shes actually Micks mother, making him Deans brother. Oo-errr! Despite whats going on in front of the cameras, Matt Di Angelo gets on well with Danny Dyer. ‘Hes got a bad rep, but hes a very humble family man, says Matt, 27. ‘And he is very funny. Weve got good banter. ‘ The soap stars are so close that they like to have a laugh together outside of work too, though it sometimes gets a bit competitive. ‘Well work together for about five or six hours a day and then well go home and hell ring me and well have a game of FIFA online, Matt tells Fabulous Magazine. ‘He beat me, which made me angry and I smashed up my PlayStation. It was a fix! Matt Di Angelo clearly admires Danny Dyer and the cockney actor seems to be equally popular with viewers. Danny, 37, joined the cast during Christmas 2013 and admitted at the time that he hoped to bring something new to EastEnders as the Queen Vics new landlord Mick Carter. ‘I wasnt shrewd enough a few years back - I took the wrong roles, said Danny. ‘Thats why when EastEnders came to me recently and gave me a nice pat on the arse, told me how brilliant I was and said they wanted me to be on their show I felt really honoured. ‘I want to take the show to the next level. Im going to be a completely different landlord to Alfie Moon and Im not nervous. Dannys famed for his straight-talking approach and realised early on that he might have to rein it in a bit if he wants to stay on EastEnders. ‘The pressure to do well is not on screen - its off, the dad-of-three told the Mirror in 2013. ‘According to Coral bookies, Ive got a 16-1 chance of being sacked within six months. I need to behave myself! 12 months on, Danny is still around and looks set for a dramatic Christmas on screen.
