Echinacea medley on my mind. We will be shipping bare roots of Echinacea purpurea in the spring. These are available at horizonherbs. Grown in Illinois, which is the seat of their native habitat, these plants prospered well. As a result, were moving excellent prices and superior quality plants to large-scale growers. Meanwhile, were growing 8 species out in the greenhouse and all of them are listed for spring delivery as potted plants. Weve been waiting for somebody else to do this, and it was a wait in vain, so weve taken the bull by the horn (or the coneflower by its palae, so to speak) and planted them all. The newly planted flats were given a few weeks of chilling outside, followed by bringing into the greenhouse. We were rewarded with rampant germination! A fat little bird (who has since been excluded from the greenhouse), got into some of the cells that were not screen protected, and became fatter on very valueable little Echinacea sprouts, but--thats farmin!
