Even if the Constitution is not amended, NLD (National League for Democracy) continue with an open door policy for the sake of the country, MP Aung San Suu Kyi told local reporters at Parliament on July 18 in Nay Pyi Taw, the official capital of Myanmar. A press conference was held on that day at the Parliament, attended by Lower House Speaker Thura Shwe Mann, MP Aung San Suu Kyi, Thein Swe and members of Myanmar Journalists Network. She responded so to a question raised by a reporter at the conference there. “For the issues such as what NLD will do should Constitution not amended before 2015, I have always said that I don’t believe in close-door countries and I only believe in open-door countries. So, from now on we [the party] will never say we will not do this or that. We are open-door one. Whatever it is, we [NLD] will never do anything if our doors are closed. We will open our doors till the end. We will go the best way for the sake of the country,” she said. She also added she’s very hopeful that the Constitution will be amended with support from every side as it’s desired by the people and everyone should try in proper ways for its amendment rather than just hoping it.
