Speculation surrounding Series 8/34 being a split series of 6 eps each, with Atlantis getting renewed for Autumn 2014, and Strictly returning 2014 also. The new series begins filming in December, with Late Spring/Early Summer a potential air date for Peter Capaldi’s first series as The Doctor with a batch of 6 eps, and the Autumn 2014 for batch 2 of the final 6 eps. But, we are guaranteed 13 eps in 2014 with The Christmas Special 2014 being Ep 13. Steven Moffat has begun writing Episode One of Series 8/34, which also sees Neil Gaiman and Mark Gatiss returning to pen more episodes. Peter is reported to be on a one series contract with an option for a second year, which is very likely considering his love for the show, rumours he will only be a one series Doctor surfaced recently due to a press report last week. Jenna returns as Companion, and Alex Kingston is rumoured for a return also. But one name now being touted for Series 8 is John Barrowman as Captain Jack.
