Everyone makes mistakes, but when police make a mistake & dont pursue a report or multiple reports & lives are lost as a result.... then the police should be held accountable & the city &/or county should be held accountable. Police are busy & they dont always take every report with the attention it may garner. Thats just human nature. But when it involves harassing or stalking behaviors & someone has priors then not even investigating shouldnt be an option. Their is very little needed to issue a warrant in a domestic or possible stalking/harassing situation when the person involved has priors. I am stunned for a friend tonight & left shaking my head at the irresponsibility of some police officials involved. It is so hard to even think that legal action might be what it takes for officials to learn from these kinds of things & for policies to be enforced to the letter.... but it is usually what it takes & that is sad because even if it garners results & possibly saves future lives.... it prolongs the mourning & grieving process of innocent people that dont deserve to have to repeatedly relive horrible actions & trauma.
