((( FASTING TO BECOME CLOSER TO JESUS ))) JESUS SAID WHEN YOU FAST, NOT IF MAT 6:16. FASTING AND PRAYER HAS BEEN AN IMPORTANT PART OF MY WALK WITH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT OTHER CHRISTIANS FAST AS WELL. GOD IS SPIRIT, AND THOSE THAT WORSHIP HIM MUST WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH JOHN 4:24. WE ARE FLESH, AND WE HAVE A SOUL AND A SPIRIT. OUR SOUL AND OUR MIND DOMINATE MOST OF THE TIME. FASTING WEAKENS OUR FLESH, AND ALLOWS OUR SPIRIT, OUR CONSCIENCE TO SURFACE. WHEN WE FIRST REPENT OF OUR SINS, AND INVITE JESUS INTO OUR LIVES, THE HOLY SPIRIT CLEANSES OUR HEART, AND MAKES US A NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST JESUS 2 COR 5:17. THE HOLY SPIRIT THEN COMES TO LIVE INSIDE US, FOR WE ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT 1 COR 6:19. WE GET INVOLVED WITH THE CARES OF LIFE, AND CHASE AFTER THE DESIRES OF THE FLESH, IGNORING THE SOFT VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHO TOGETHER WITH OUR CONSCIENCE WARNS US, AND WISHES TO GUIDE US INTO THE WILL OF GOD. FASTING IS A GOOD WAY TO DEPRIVE THE FLESH, AND FOCUS ON THE SPIRIT, TOGETHER WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT IN US. AS THE BODY WEAKENS THROUGH FASTING, THE SPIRIT BECOMES STRONGER, AND WE BEGIN TO HEAR THE VOICE OF THE SPIRIT LOUDER AND CLEARER. THE OBJECTIVE OF FASTING IS TO GET CLOSER TO JESUS. JESUS IS ALWAYS CLOSE TO US, BUT WE ARE NOT ALWAYS TUNED IN TO HEAR HIS VOICE. WE OFTEN IGNORE THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN US, SO WE NEED TO DEPRIVE THE FLESH, AND FORCE OURSELVES TO FOCUS ON JESUS. A FAST IS ALSO USEFUL FOR SPIRITUAL AWAKENING, AND RESTORATION. FASTING WITHOUT PRAYING IS A WASTE OF TIME. YOU NEED TO REMOVE OTHER DISTRACTIONS AS WELL. THE THINGS THAT PLEASE THE FLESH MUST BE PUT ASIDE FOR THE DURATION OF THE FAST. NO TELEVISION, NO FOOD, NO READING OTHER THAN THE BIBLE, NO MOVIES, AVOID ALL WORLDLY DISTRACTIONS. SPEND MUCH TIME IN PRAYER, FOR YOUR SPIRIT MUST COME ALIVE AS YOUR FLESH BECOMES WEAKER THROUGH FASTING. SPEND MUCH TIME READING THE WORD OF GOD, AND SEEKING THE FACE OF JESUS. THE IMPORTANT THING TO ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND WHILE FASTING, IS THAT YOURE FASTING TO GET CLOSER TO JESUS. THEREFORE, IF YOU DONT PRAY AND SPEND TIME WITH JESUS, YOURE WASTING YOUR TIME. FASTING IS A TIME TO EXAMINE YOURSELF, AND DRAW CLOSER TO JESUS. ASK HIM TO REVEAL TO YOU WRONG THINGS, AND HINDRANCES IN YOUR LIFE, AND REPENT OF THOSE THINGS IMMEDIATELY AS THE LORD REVEALS THEM TO YOU. YOU WILL FIND THAT YOUR SPIRIT, YOUR CONSCIENCE BECOMES ALIVE, AND YOU WILL BEGIN TO HEAR THE VOICE OF JESUS MORE CLEARER. TAKE NOTE OF EVERYTHING, TAKE THIS FAST SERIOUSLY, SEEK GOD WILL ALL OF YOUR HEART. DRAW NEAR TO GOD, AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU JAMES 4:8. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JOEL 2:12. Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MATTHEW 17,21 KJV. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ISAIAH 58: 5 TO 11. (( A TRUE FAST ))) ISAIAH 58,5. Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? ISAIAH 58,6. Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? ISAIAH 58,7. s it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? ISAIAH 58,8. Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. ISAIAH 58,9. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; ISAIAH 58,10. And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: ISAIAH 58,11. And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
