FIRSTFRUITS AND RESURRECTION. When the children of Israel - TopicsExpress

FIRSTFRUITS AND RESURRECTION. When the children of Israel occupied the Promised Land in their tribal allotments, the free grace of manna stopped to be replaced another gracious provision: FIRSTFRUITS. This means they gained houses and harvests of the Canaanites for which they did not labour nor toil. But for henceforth, God will partner with them in their yearly harvest and bless their sowing and reaping. But they were mandated to observe this feast of FIRSTFRUITS by offering the firstborn of the womb - both man and beast - unto the Lord ( Exodus 13:11-15). And to give back to Him the FIRSTFRUITS of the fields ( Deuteronomy 26:1-10). For New Testament saints Jesus is the greatest gift of Gods grace. Paul makes this connection when He calls Jesus the firstfruit from the dead ( 1 Corinthians 15:20). Please ponder this today: the resurrection of Jesus is the embodiment and fulfillment of this feast of FIRSTFRUITS. Father God, we often call Jesus by His title: the Bread of Life. Open our spiritual eyes today to what it means. As our life source and sustainer, we cannot live without Him. Apart from Him, we are nothing. May we offer our gratitude to Him and our yielded lives as our FIRSTFRUITS back to Him. Ps. Christopher Y. C. Choo
