FIVE IN A ROW FOR TEAM 99!!! Clinched the pole with a fast time of 16.384, but due to a four in a row win rule Layne started in the eighth position. The green flew for the Pure Stock Division at Orange County Speedway, and by lap four the No.99 had worked its way up to the third position. By lap nine Layne was in command of the field. The Riggs machine led the Pure Stocks to halfway. After a short 10 minute break, the field drew for their starting position for the final 25 laps. Layne pulled a six putting us back in the field again. When the green waved for the last portion of the nights Pure Stock 50 lap event, there was an immediate caution when cars in front of the No.99 tangled with Layne missing the wreck by only inches. “Oh My Gosh” came across the radio. Adrenaline was definitely going then. We slowly worked our way to the front and by lap 41 we were sitting second on the board. Layne was stalking the Crews machine. He was there. With only a couple laps left, Layne would make his move but get blocked and run down the track. Coming off the final turn on the last lap the No.99 drove it hard and grabbed the victory. When you’re a driver no matter your age, what you want most is respect, not only from the fans but from other drivers and teams as well. We pride ourselves on racing each competitor hard, but clean. We respect drivers who do the same as well! Thanks to ALL the Riggs Racing fans that were sitting in the stands tonight. We heard you!!! Until next time…..
