FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 8, 2014 Library Materials Fundraising Efforts Copperas Cove, Texas – During the recent Fiscal Year 2014-2015 budget process, the Copperas Cove Public Library budget for books and other library materials was significantly reduced. Library Director Kevin Marsh and the Friends of the Copperas Cove Library have planned for a series of special events and other fund-raising activities to bring the total available funds for library materials back up to a healthy level for a community of our size. The Friends of the Copperas Cove Library have taken the lead in the fundraising effort by approving a one-time $5,000 donation directly to the book budget. Their efforts will continue with a Chick-fil-a spirit night on October 16, 2014. Other restaurant events will follow throughout the year and the information will be released as available. The Friends will place donation jars with the motto “Cents for Books – Books make Sense” in the library and at local businesses to encourage contributions. The Friends also operate an ongoing book sale in the lobby of the library and will host a special sale on Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the library meeting room. Additionally, the library staff and the Friends are planning a community-wide event, “Rally Day for the Library”, to be held on April 18, 2015 in association with National Library Week as the culmination of the fundraising effort. What can you as a concerned citizen do? • Join the Friends of the Library - your dues support library programs • Volunteer to help with fundraising projects • Buy materials at the book sale - great Christmas gifts • Donate books to the library for the collection or the book sale • Donate funds to the library using one of our change jars, at a fundraiser or at the circulation desk The City of Copperas Cove would like to thank the Friends of the Library, First Command Financial Services, and the Noon Exchange Club for donations which have already been received. We appreciate the support of our community. For further information please contact Library Director Kevin Marsh at (254)547-3826 or [email protected]
