FORGIVENESS! Colossians 3:13 (NLT) - Make allowance for each - TopicsExpress

FORGIVENESS! Colossians 3:13 (NLT) - Make allowance for each others faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. If God our Father was able to forgive anyone from all and any kinds of sins and continue loving us, how come some of us His children, (especially leaders) are cannot would not and even some will not forgive and move on? (1 John 1:9) Gods eternal love for His people (His children) was perfectly recorded in the Old testament. It seems that the cycle is Israel rebelled against God, then sufferings follows through many forms, then people will cry out to God, then God in His mercy and in faithfulness to His name and to His covenant will rescue His people (us). His forgiveness never tires and His love never keeps records of wrong things we did. 1. Forgiveness is the intentional and voluntary process by which a victim undergoes a change in feelings and attitude regarding an offense, lets go of negative emotions such as revenge, with an increased ability to wish the offender well. 3. Forgiveness is letting go of grudges and bitterness and it make way for compassion, kindness, love, peace, and joy. 2. Forgiveness is different from condoning; it is sacrificial act of a Christlike character. It is given without a condition, not only for the offender but mostly for the offended to be free from negative emotions, free from revenge and free from bitterness. Actually there are great benefits when we forgive someone. What are the benefits? A. Healthier (godly) relationships. B. Greater emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological well-being. C. Less anxiety, less stress and less hostility. D. Lower blood pressure and lowers blood sugar. E. Fewer symptoms of depression, frustrations, and arthritis. F. Increases financial freedom. (no need to buy medicines) :) I pray that we can be like our Abba Father be full of compassion, lavish in His grace, and generous of His mercy be able to forgive like Him. For in forgiving we benefit more than the offending party. I actually realized: It is a lot easier for a forgiven person to forgive others.
