FROM THE VAULT Tonight in From the Vault, I will be discussing the Holy Grail and these items in a way to get you thinking about what is the item hidden in the fantastic cache. Of course this will be multi-layered, it’s the only way. Though this discussion touches on the great grail romances these are not the focus here; maybe for another time. Wait a minute, you said, “these items”. Why yes, yes I did! For what is known now as the ‘Holy Grail’ is a symbol that is a mixture of a number of similar and related items. But so, the first is the ‘Bason’. That is the way it is described when these items are named in the King James Bible. Have a look at Exodus 38 where Bezaleel is fabricating the implements and accoutrements for the Tabernacle. " 3 And he made all the vessels of the altar, the pots, and the shovels, and the basons, and the fleshhooks, and the firepans: all the vessels thereof made he of brass." If you are wondering what a ‘bason’ is, the modern spelling is ‘basin’. It’s a basin to catch the sacrificial blood. In medieval France, the word they used is ‘graal’; a serving bowl. These basons or graals, were the original Jerusalem Temple items when the treasure was hidden. When Chretien de Troyes spoke of the items that were paraded in his grail romance, the Graal, a platter, and a candelabra, you can see he is referring to a basin, a platter to present the sacrifice and a menorah. So for Chretien des Troyes the Holy Graal was a particular sacrificial bowl within the collection of the other Temple implements. They were, as the Holy Graal, the certification of a true Divine Sovereign. Next is the ‘Cup of the Blood of Christ’, the ‘Holy Grail’. This chalice was said to be used by Christ when he changed water into wine. The traditions say Joseph of Arimathea caught Jesus’ blood in it during the crucifixion. The other part not well known is that the blood was sealed in with a lid. This lid was the Os Sacrum of Adam. It’s not easily identified when said this way but the Os Sacrum is the last spinal vertebrae and the pelvic bones attach to it. Everyone has a Sacred Bone and it is still called the Sacrum. This is the most substantial bone in the body and it is from this bone (if this is all that remains) that your body will be reconstituted on the great day of judgement. I don’t know why it was Adam’s (from the Garden of Eden) sacrum that was used for the lid. Tradition has it though that this grail was diamond or agate. But for some reason depictions of it show it to be emerald in colour. The next is the Sacro Catino now in Genoa. The ‘Sacred Basin’ is a small emerald green glass container. It was thought to be the container that Jesus used during the last supper. It was thought this was the item shown on the table in front of Jesus in Da Vinci’s ‘The last Supper’. It is known now to be a piece of early genoese glass. The last item is one that is a bit hard to find details about. This was the Emerald Cup of Abraham, said to be some type of cup affair Abraham brought from the Temple of Ur. All these items now seem to have been mixed together under the generic name ‘Holy Grail’. If you have sorted it out and are using the Royal Societiy’s map to locate the cache you will know this leads to the ‘Holy Graal’ which can loosely be used as the term for the cache of items from the Temple of Jerusalem. In this there are the ‘graals’, the sacrifical bowls and there is probably one special graal of them all. But all this means for those who engage in this level of enquiry there is another item, the ‘Holy Grail’ that is some type of chalice probably in the hoard also. What is this? The answer might be in the word Emerald that keeps appearing as the description. For again there is the Emerald Tablet of Hermes. 1. See the basons or the graals? 2. Your sacrum. 3. The Holy Grail viewed by Perceval here is emerald. 4. The Sacro Catino. 5. The Last Supper. Is that really the Sacro Catino just in front of Jesus? 6. Hermes displaying the Emerald Tablet.
