Fangsy answer one more burning question today because it timely. Read on -- you see why. Dear Dr. Wangsy, I am enjoying your wit and wisdom and hoping you can give me some advice. Im meeting the parents of MY Mr. Friend this weekend. I be atheist carnivore, and they be uber religious vegans. How do I prevent this weekend from becoming huge fiasco? Thanks in advance, Dr J Reynolds, PharmD Oh Dr. Reynold, Fangsy first instinct be to say perhap you all just sit down to a big bowl of rice and talk about World Cup. There -- no one offended. Whatever you do, make sure religion not ever come up. Dont even say holy crap. If you be going to their house, one thing to ease into conversation may be to comment on how nice their home decorate (even if it awful with sponge-painted wall and Precious Moment figurine everywhere). Do they like gardening? Do they have pretty flower or landscaping? Perhap you could talk about your job or your fur critter -- surely they approve of this. This a sticky situation indeed. However, most important thing is that YOUR Mr. Friend love YOU. In end, that all that important. Hopefully his parent mature and can accept you just like you is. And you can accept them too. I say to you what Mama always say to me: BE NICE, DAMMIT, SHES YOUR SISTER. (Okay, may this whole line of advice not be relevant to you, but some of it be.) Have a fun weekend. Let Fangsy know how it go! xoxo, Doc Wangsy
