Fantastic news!!!! ...We hope other councils follow suit. Balloons have a massive effect on wildlife, especially leatherback turtles. The turtles ingest balloons (and other marine debris such as plastic bags) thinking that the balloon is a jellyfish (their primary source of food). Subsequently the balloon causes internal blockage, which could lead to severe starvation and sadly death. Please spread the word and educate others :D ...Say no to mass balloon releases and to the usage of plastic bags.
