Father of video games, Ralph H Baer passes away at 92 Ralph Henry Baer was a German-American video game pioneer, inventor, engineer, and was known as The Father of Video Games, and was noted for his many contributions to games and the video game industry. Anyone who has played a video game, has most likely played his life changing game, Pong, which was copied a million times over under different names, whether football, tennis, ice hockey, or ping pong. Ralph Baer had the first gaming console built in around 1969, before it was licensed to Magnavox in 1971, and after being renamed Magnavox Odyssey, the console was released to the public in 1972. Rest in Peace, Ralph.
