Feature Musician of the Month, Rainel Joubert. Cuban-born violinist Rainel Joubert began his musical studies at the age of seven in La Habana, Cuba at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory with Maestro Maria de los Angeles Verdecia. The today concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra of The University of Southern Mississippi has been involved in high quality programs and festivals in United States and outside the country such as the International Chamber Music Festival of Merida (Venezuela), the Premier Orchestral Institute (Mississippi), and the Aspen Music Festival and School. His chamber music recital appearances have taken him to Spain, Venezuela, Cuba, and the United States. He is one of the four laureates of the 15th Annual Sphinx Competition and winner of the William T. Gower Concerto Competition held at USM. Joubert is currently in the last semester of his Masters in Music Performance with Dr. Stephen Redfield as his teacher.
