Florence Baird: Florence Curry Baird, age 73, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at her home following a brief illness. Born March 7, 1940 in Leslie County, Florence had lived here most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Evarts Church of God. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Curry and Grace Huff Curry; a brother, Bert Allen Curry; and a sister, Lily Rose Curry. Survivors include her husband, Ken Baird, Evarts; three children, Loretta Middleton, Claiborne County, TN; Kenneth Marvin Baird and wife, Sherry, Kenvir; and Billy Wayne Baird and wife, Denise, Letcher County, KY. Also surviving are four brothers, Bill Curry and wife, Ona; James Curry and wife, Shelia; Glen Curry and wife, Vicky; and David Curry and wife, Connie; four sisters, Wanda Valdez and husband, Ron; Louise Whitman; Joanne May and Barbara Smith and husband, Johnny; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 until 9 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 12 Noon in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Pastor Frank Howard and Pastor Buddy Simpson officiating.
