Following a disappointing campaign in the Tribute South West 1 West League Paignton Saxons regroup for the forthcoming season in the Western Counties (West) League with Richard Southcombe as Director of Rugby and now Matt Jackson joining the club as one of the backs coaches together with Jack Linley-Shaw as Head and forwards coach. However it wasn’t all bad news at Queen’s Park, Paignton RFC successfully achieved RFU Accreditation during the season and a successful RFU supported valued volunteer awards evening at the end of the season. Closer ties have been formed with South Devon College’s Rugby Academy sharing facilities and resources which will be mutually beneficial to both parties and the formation of bi-match Grand Central Cup competition between Paignton RFC Colts and South Devon College. An agreement has also been reached with Torbay Council for more pitch spaces at Clennon Valley which will ease pressure on the over used main pitch at Queen’s Park which hopefully with the weather on our side will avoid this year’s scenes where no Rugby was played for almost 2 months. Colts, Chargers, Development and the Ladies Teams are thriving with Ian Wakeham and Liam Talbot coaching the Development Team. A players get together has been arranged on Saturday 22nd June to watch the British Lions Test followed by a BBQ at the club. All are welcome. If any new players wish to join the club they are invited to Saturday’s event or can contact the coaching staff on 07853981270. Paignton RFC Youth Academy is going from strength to strength and always welcome new players. A try it out / registration day is arranged from 10.30am Sunday 8th September 2013 at Queen’s Park Paignton.
