Following on from a morning discussion with Annie Bean on the religious persuasion on Bears and the requirements of specific papal woods in the Vatican for bodily functions, it transpires that the Unorthodox Ursine Church was entirely unknown to my beloved girlfriend. With only two bears in this fine island, we must realise that they do need a private place in which to worship their deity. We do know that the bear enclosure a Durrell’s houses an indoor section where the public can view, but it must also have a more private section. originally used to house the quarantined bears on their arrival, it has now been stocked with the accruements of worship. Of the Unorthodox Ursine Church, we know even less. It is evident that, much like human christianism, Bears also worship the Holy Trinity, but in their case, it’s the Hairy Trinity of Ursa Major, Ursa Minor and Marmalade on Toast. The third part was only apparent from the diaries of the excommunicated individual known as Paddington. Rituals within the UUC include Beartisms, where young bears are introduced to the faith, and the consumption of “Bear Claws” baked products which seem to represent a similar function to holy wafers. It is unknown if the UUC supports interracial marriage between bears, or if the Polar regions are treated as a different sect to the Peruvian, Andean or even North American churches. With so much intolerance In this world, Should we not look to learn more about other religions, including this Bearly known one?
