Food bag of the day (number 22): Alexandra Bulhões Maier gave out a food bag today. Here is her story and picture. Thanks Alex :-) Today I met Suellen. She is 24 and has got 2 children. Suellen lives at Complexo do Alemao, a favela located 30km away from Leblon. She sells chewing gum in the streets to survive. We had a good chat and she explained me that she had one job in the past, before having her first child. She complained that she is still applying for jobs but it seems impossible to get one. Suellen needed to catch 3 buses to get back home. And she also said that she still had to beg for some cash to be able to afford their trip. I’ve asked if she could manage to carry such a heavy bag on her way home, she answered me with an eye-popping smile: “mam, I have to manage!” She thanked for her smart red bag a thousand times!
