For Immediate Release Triplett earns first career PBR Built Ford Tough Series win in Oklahoma City OKLAHOMA CITY – One of the hottest riders on the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) 2015 Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), Matt Triplett of Columbia Falls, Montana, captured his first career BFTS win at the Express Employment Professionals Invitational at Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy Arena on Sunday afternoon. Triplett went 3-for-4 on the weekend, and despite not making a qualified score in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, he gathered enough points through the first three rounds to clinch the victory. Triplett earned 615 event points which moved him only 25 points behind current No. 1 Silvano Alves in the PBR world standings. “I’ve got to credit what I’m doing right now to how healthy I am both mentally and physically,” Triplett said. “I’ve been working out off and on at Michael Johnson Performance and doing yoga five to six days a week, which has helped me so much with my flexibility and focus. I’m just trying to have fun this year and it seems to be working out for me.” 2013 PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney finished in second place for the second weekend in a row after winning Round 1 and the championship round with the only qualified ride in the round, — an 86.25-point effort on Savage (D&H Cattle Co./Bay/Flinn). Mauney collected 470 event points for the weekend and now sits No. 3 in the world standings. Defending Oklahoma City champion, Nathan Schaper finished in third place overall, earning 180 event points after covering three of his four bulls on the weekend. Chase Outlaw picked up 150 event points overall, nabbing fourth place, while Fabiano Vieira finished in fifth place, earning 105 event points. 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi’s Round 3 win yielded him 100 points, landing him in sixth place overall for the weekend. . With a bull score of 46 out of 50 points, Sweet Pro’s Long John (D&H Cattle Co./Tim Dougherty) won the Salem Nationalease high-marked Bull award in Oklahoma City after taking only 2.08 seconds to toss Marchi in the championship round. Next on the 2015 BFTS is a stop at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California, on Jan. 30-31 for the Sacramento Invitational. The event takes place at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 and 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31. It will be televised on CBS Sports Network at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday. The Express Employment Professionals Classic was the fourth of 27 stops on the 2015 PBR Built Ford Tough Series schedule. The 18-state tour will culminate with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 21-25 when the 2015 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most PBR world points during the 2015 season, will be crowned and receive the coveted $10,000 World Championship belt buckle and $1 million bonus. The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network – the home of the PBR - and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
